Well, now that they've scooped up their fair share of Grammys, I thought it was time to share with you the night Macklemore & Ryan Lewis spent in Ohio with some pretty cool people.
Long story short, one of my coworkers worked hard to get Macklemore to stop in Springfield at our Juvenile Detention Center in between his Chicago and Columbus shows back in November. Unfortunately, that wasn't probable so late in the game, but my coworker did work his magic enough to acquire VIP tickets and a meet and greet with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis in Columbus for a few of our youth. Some of these guys had never been to Columbus, let alone a concert like this. It was certainly a privilege to see them have such a once in a lifetime experience.
If you haven't paid much attention to Macklemore's story, you should. His honesty about overcoming addiction and seeking a more purpose driven life is something people should know about. Aside from his many chart topping/award winning songs, he's just a regular guy who has some sincere and valuable thoughts on culture here in America.
Here are a few of the photos I snapped during the concert:
(Note: He's a fair dude. So hard to get the right exposure on that quickly moving white skin! The lights were crazy AND I was using a 50 mm lens since my zoom lens was confiscated upon entering the arena. Whoops. Better luck next time on sneaking that thing in.)
I encourage you to check out Macklemore & Ryan Lewis' music, especially the songs that have yet to reach the radio.
And then for real ask your Grandpa if I can have his hand-me-downs.
